North Shore Views
When reflecting on the places they have been in their lives
and the experiences they have had, people will choose one place
above all others where they would like to be. For us, this place
is the north woods of Minnesota.
Lake Superior's North Shore
Our north woods are bordered by Lake Superior (the largest
freshwater lake in the world) to the south and east, Canada
to the north and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) to the
west. It is a unique and dramatic landscape. The Sawtooth Mountains
rise along the shoreline of Lake Superior, brushed with birch
and aspen that balance along the sheer cliffs of the PreCambrian
Shield - some of the oldest rock in North America. Over the
first ridgeline are the sugar maples and the spruce and then,
as the landscape turns to waterscape, the pines and tamarack
dominate.
The BWCA has more than 2500 lakes within 875,000 acres of wilderness.
This is a natural habitat for moose, otters, wolves and eagles.
This is a natural habitat for the canoe and the kayak, and this
is a natural habitat for The Tamarack Group.
From time to time we would like to share photos from this landscape.
This is an aside - from our consulting work - that we both value.
